How do I forward Ring Group and Auto Attendant calls to an external number?

How do I forward Ring Group and Auto Attendant calls to an external number?

Objective

Forward Ring Group and Auto Attendant calls to an external number with 8x8 Admin Console.

Applies To

  • 8x8 Admin Console
  • Ring Groups
  • Auto Attendants

For the forwarding to work correctly, the Ring Group / Auto Attendant or the Site these services belong to, need to have their own phone number assigned. The phone number is used for billing purposes since the call is being forwarded to an external number. If a number is not assigned, you will not be able to make successfull calls to PSTN phone numbers through Call forwarding rules.

Note: From the Ring Group, Call Forwarding cannot forward to multiple numbers.

Procedure

Ring Groups

  1. Log in to your 8x8 Application Panel.
  2. Select 8x8 Admin Console.
  3. Select Ring Groups.
  4. To the right of the desired Ring Group, select Edit (pencil icon).
  5. Navigate to Call forwarding rules and expand the section.

  1. Select Forward all calls. This will uncheck all the other options.
